Introduction

Life and death has highly influenced anthropology's efforts in defining the human. To lose someone who is near to heart is such a painful feeling. The pain and sadness that one feels after losing loved one is so natural. At such situations, one becomes helpless but there are still some effective ways to cope with that pain and to move on.

Grief cycle

Grief is an emotional suffering which is felt by someone when he is gone through a big loss. It is observed that grief depends on the loss, the most significant the loss, the most significant the grief. It is stated by most of the counselors and psychologists that there is a specific pattern which people go thorough during the grief. This pattern is named as “grief cycle”. Grief is a very personal thing and people express their grief in different ways; but most psychologists and counselors agree that there is a pattern which people go through, starting with shock and disbelief. This pattern has been called the "cycle of grief" (James, 2012).

Denial

This term refers to the refusal to accept any unexpected news. This refusal can either be conscious or unconscious. It is a natural response and defense mechanism.

Anger

People who suffer through grief can be angry with themselves or with others more likely to those whom they are close with.

Bargaining

It involves the situation of insisting to God. People who face less serious trauma bargain for negotiation.

Depression

It is a kind of acceptance as it is very normal to feel regret, sadness, uncertainty and fear. Depression shows that the sufferer has at least started to accept and face the reality.

Acceptance
