Introduction

Although the ability to think critically has always been important, it is imperative for the citizens of the 21st century. For the first time in the history of the human race, we have the ability to destroy all life on earth. The decisions that we make as individuals and as a society regarding the economy, conservation of natural resources, and the development of nuclear weapons will affect future generations of all people around the world. I also called upon to make decisions on a wide range of important local and personal topics.

A Working Definition of Analytical thinking

Although many psychologists and others have proposed several definitions for the term analytical thinking, these definitions tend to be similar in content. (Berger, 1995) Here is a simple definition that captures the main concepts: analytical thinking is the use of those cognitive skills or strategies that increase the probability of a desirable outcome. It is used to describe thinking that is purposeful, reasoned, and goal directed the kind of thinking involved in solving problems, formulating inferences, calculating likelihoods, and making decisions when the thinker is using skills that are thoughtful and effective for the particular context and type of thinking task.

In today's high-paced job market, having the right technology to get the job done more efficiently is of high demand. (Nickerson, 2001) That is why having the correct blend of information systems to assist in this process is imperative. Information systems include many different resources and not just one thing. They include computers, the instructions to operate the computers, people to operate the system, and procedures for the people to follow. These components have played a significant role in my job of Executive Assistant as well as in personal life. With more user-friendly interfaces, learning and work related tasks have become easier. Today, we are using tools that help us in doing more work, with less errors and better results. This is the role information systems will take in the upcoming decades. First radio changed the world, and then the television came along and reinvented how people can communicate with the rest of the world. Nowadays, people all over the world communicate with one another in a real time format with the assistance of the internet and information systems and technology.

The "important" part of information systems denotes an evaluation component. (Nickerson, 2001) Sometimes the word information is used to convey something negative, but in real sense, it highlights a proper system. But, assessment of information can and should be a constructive reflection of positive and negative attributes.

When I think critically about information systems in Adoptions Unlimited Inc., I evaluate the outcomes of my thought processes how good a decision is or how well a problem has been solved.
