Trinidad and Tobago is faced with a number of problems and challenges, which stand as impediments in its quest to become a successful nation in the Caribbean and beyond. Although it is a small island nation, Trinidad and Tobago is a country which has a lot to offer (Besson et al, 1992). Due to its natural beauty and scenic views, it is a top destination for tourists who head to the country. The magnificent beaches and the clear waters which the islands offer to the tourists are a source of revenue generation for the country. However, behind all the scenic beauty and spectacular views, there lies a tale of problems which beset the country. This paper will discuss some of the problems which the country is facing currently, and those which it faced during the twentieth century. The problems faced by the country are numerous, but the problems and challenges discussed through this paper will be environmental, economic, social and political. In addition, this research will also look to present the solutions which are being offered for these problems faced by Trinidad and Tobago.

Social Problems
The social problems faced by Trinidad and Tobago are numerous; violent crime, gangs, HIV AIDS and criminal activity are pressing issues which need to be addressed in order for the country to be a prosperous nation in the Caribbean. In this part of the paper, the social problems faced by the country will be analyzed. Therefore, in order to underscore the need for the social problems to be addressed, this paper will look to include a real life example, in order to explain these problems in a better way.
