The article by Wane (2009) is a fair attempt to elaborate on the life of African women who had been living in Canada or migrated to Canada. There are sixteen complete narrations of the African women who tried to settle in Canadian Black community and faced challenges. There were particular areas that appeared to be challenging for different women in the study but they made through with the help of their innate and acquired skills. Most of them laid immense emphasis on the importance of education in order to transform the societal perception that became barriers for the Black women especially. These women in the study were aware of the innate strength in the Black women. These strengths accounted reliance, self-confidence and passion to live with all their respect. The societal norms were not very favorable for the Black women still they made through since they were quite focused. The then prevailing injustices and biases were deep-rooted hindrances that societies were following for ages. Blacks were already facing extreme discrimination that was quite enough to demoralize the passion in the Black women. The acquirement of education gave them respect in the society because people had to change their perception or say were compelled to change their viewpoint due to the evidence based progression of Black women.
The article by Subedi and Daza (2008) is an attempt to discuss one special concern that elaborates the feasibilities of having postcolonial praxis especially in the field of education. The education has to identify the differences in approach of the children by not taking advantage of biases instead funneling them into positive manner. Postcolonial praxis has to be re-defined with new parameters to understand the historical facts and analyze them again in the light of new approaches. The racial and ethnicity impose the presence of varying appraisal system but the discrimination should not contaminate the society. In the past the racial and ethnic discrimination revolve around gender identity as well beside the prevalence of postcolonial discrimination. The world is still facing gender biases and there are some schools of thoughts that believe girls are weak and they cannot become a productive member of the society. They are liabilities for men and they need not to be represented while deciding on the societal norms and standards. Gender dominance has always been a topic of great concern and several researches have been established to identify the root causes and their actual implications. The article has taken the relevance of past example and literature to prove his point of various kinds of discrimination.
