Introduction

Organization analysis of the health care setting is the integral aspect to assess the provision of quality services. In fact, the analysis of any organization is carried out in order to evaluate the total productivity and the performance of each process as well as an element of the perspective system. The process analysis in a healthcare setting determines the actual functionality and capacity of the hospital organization. Moreover, it assists to comprehend the use of novel technology, design and behavior in facilitating the quality health care.

This paper aims to appraise the external and internal factors of the hospital organization. The selected hospital is St. Mary hospital. It is a surgical and general medical hospital and contains 464 beds. The hospital has undergone many transitions and now it is accredited with CaraMel Healthcare and providing the better health care services. The internal factors include the structure of hospital, patient and staff. The external factors include the technology, social, economical and political parameters. The analysis of the St. Mary Hospital organization reveals the important aspects that have contributed to structure the quality healthcare organization.

Impact of Organizational size

The size of the hospital organization is essential as it influences the growing amount of the facts related to healthcare organization. With the increased number of activities due to increased size of the organization, it becomes critical to process all the available information. Along with all these, the number of the elements employed for decision making also increased. Several analysts support the size of the organization as the determinant for the selection of the structure. The organizational size was increased following the merging of the St. Mary hospital with Good Samaritan Hospital. The joint accreditation of these hospitals with CaraMel Healthcare Corporation expanded the size further that automatically increased the performance of the hospital up to 75 % more than that of in the year 1996.
