Introduction

The novel “Namesake” is written by Jhumpa Lahiri, and focuses on the struggles of the family who had migrated from India to America (Lahiri, 2003). The family faced many hardships, as they had to adapt to a culture that was completely different to their home country. The Indian name given to the boy helped him relzlie the true value of his cultural heritage.
