Introduction

This assignment aims to provide analysis of legal and ethical implications on an abuse scenario. It would include discussion regarding the alternatives that can be taken in order to address the human services needs. According to the scenario, an Italian immigrant female teenager was placed by the court system in an agency that provides youth diagnostic services to youth. The girl has been suspected to experience a sexual abuse by her family. She had been provided with safe environment of living for twelve months in the agency by Children and Youth Protective services.

Despite of the fact that there were strong sexual abuse indications, she was dismissed by the court during her trial. As a result of dismissal, the protective services lost residential placement funding. Therefore, the girl was sent back to her home.

Discussion

The concept of human services refers to the use of unique approaches based to interdisciplinary knowledge in order to the meet aim of satisfying human needs. The human services focus on the remediation and presentation of problems, and maintain a commitment to improve the general quality of service populations' life (National organization for Human Service, 2013).

Legal and Ethical Obligations

There are large numbers of legal and ethical obligations that must be applied to both girl and her father in this abuse scenario. The Department of Human Services has the responsibility for carrying forward protective investigations where there is any suspected sexual abuse. The act of a father to involve his daughter in a sexual abuse is considered to be a criminal offence (Department of Human Services, 2006). The legal obligations for both girl and her father would vary in country to country.

According to legal obligations, father has no legal right to get involved in sexual activities with the child. The act of a father to sexually abuse his daughter would ultimately make him a criminal by both federal and provincial government. The courts around the globe make it illegal for people to get involved in any kind of sexual abuse. The father has no right to legally defense himself after being involved in sexual abuse with his daughter. Since, the father occupies a position of trust with his daughter, the crime is considered to be a special heinous crime. The Child Abuse act of 1980's enables the girl to sue his father for damages (Pettibone, 2009).

Legal obligations on the girl would be to file the case on court for reporting the sexual abuse from her father. The Human services are already aware of the fact that there has been suspected sexual abuse on her. However, her case got dismissed from the court. She has the authority of going to the high court to carry on the case's proceeding. According to the scenario, there are strong implications on sexual abuse available.
