Introduction

There are a number of health diseases that are increasing in the societies of the United States. Many of the diseases and illness are spreading among the people because their certain unhealthy activities. Some of these increasing diseases involve obesity, depression, mental health, high blood pressure, diabetes, alcoholism etc. Mental health problem is the illness that is spreading among the people in the United States at a rapid rate. The people are facing with great level of mental stresses because of various environmental issues as well as social issues. The mental problem has long term negative effects. Various other types of illness are related to the mental problems. The people who suffer from mental illness also have to suffer from heart related problems, digestive problems, nervous system problems and many other related problems. It has been also found that the people with mental illness are also greatly involved in the alcohol consumption that damages their healthy brain activities. The research studies have found that the increasing mental illness among the people is directly affecting the economies of the country (Martin, M. E., 2013). Another significant issue that is present in the societies is the child abuse. The children are being abused by their families and by other people in the societies. The child abuse is creating negative impact upon the behaviors and attitudes of the children.

The mental health issue and the child abuse issue are currently receiving the attention of the helping professions. There are various human health related models that are being used by the helping and the health care professionals to treat many types of illness among the people. In order to treat the mental health issue, these essential models can be used. The use of models will also allow the human services providers to treat the patients of the mental health and to reduce the stressful situations as well as the child abuse that is prevailing in the societies. These models can also be beneficial in developing the awareness plans that can protect the people from being indulged in the activities that can develop mental health issues and the child abuse issues. The following section aims at discussing in detail some of the essential models and their effectiveness in solving the problem of mental health and child abuse in the societies.

Medical Model

The medical model involves the medical treatment of the physical sick and ill people. The sick individual people are considered as the patients to whom the physicians provide the treatments in the health care organizations. Various methods of treatments such as diagnosis, medication and prescriptions are used to treat the patient depending upon the nature of the illness. The aim of the treatment under this model is to return the patient in the healthy state.
