ABSTRACT
The focus of this research study is to investigate and analyze the factors on why the healthcare industry does not have gender diversity in its nursing profession. Our traditions and past trends are becoming barriers and hurdles in bringing and enforcing gender diversity in the healthcare organizations especially in nursing profession. Most of the healthcare organizations even don't hire black female nurses, as the patients who visit these organizations are conscious about their ethnic, cultural, religious and racial backgrounds. The cultural sensitivity should be improved only then the healthcare industry will be able to bring gender diversity in nursing profession. Gender diversity can be only managed in the nursing profession through positive thinking and by changing our perceptions towards the people who wish to adopt nursing as a profession. Nursing became one of the few options for women seeking employment and personal financial stability. The feminization of nursing is not purely remote in nursing schools or healthcare institution but it is perceived and pervasive right through the general population. The minorities should effectively participate in the nursing profession, as it is not a gender based profession that could be adopted by any single gender.
