Introduction

Workers' rights are a general term used to describe the range of legal protections available to individuals and groups who are in business organizations. Nowadays, majority of the organizations focus of preserving the rights of the workers. All the employees are provided with equal opportunities and better facilities. However, the employees with disabilities have always faced problems in attaining their rights and getting better opportunities. These individuals have been discriminated in terms of wages, facilities, benefits and accommodations. This paper will discuss the impact of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 had of the recruitment, selection and the treatment of the employees with disabilities.

Employee benefits and compensation is offered by employers to their employees as part of the total compensation package. The benefits offered by employers generally reflect a basic care and concern for the well-being of employees and the importance of that well-being to employee productivity. For the most part, employee benefits may be placed in one of three categories: health-related insurance, financial insurance and quality-of-life benefits (O'Brien, 2004). Compensation is an important factor in the quality of employment, although this is not most important. It is clear that nonprofits are struggling to overcome in order to offer competitive salaries and benefits to attract and retain qualified personnel. When the organizations are willing to provide these benefits and compensations to their employees then why not some added accommodations and facilities for the employees who have disabilities? The employees with disabilities have always been discriminated in many ways apart from facing harassment and discrimination from their fellow employees and even employers. They have also faced difficulties in getting suitable jobs because of their disabilities.
