Introduction

American Revolution is known as an historic event. This occurred when the British had power and they wanted to conquer that the states now known as the United States of America. The colonies were suppressed by the British and they wanted to rule those colonies by implementing a new system that favored the British. The colonies then started fighting for their right and a number of events took place which ultimately led to the American Revolution. On the other hand, the Operation Iraqi Freedom was an operation launched by America because Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction and posed as a threat to the United States and its allies. Although many countries in the United Nations were against the war, but the United States did not want to give Saddam Hussein a chance to pose a threat to their country. A comparison of both the wars will be presented in this paper.

American Revolution & Operation Iraqi Freedom - An Overview

American Revolution was a war that the colonists fought for their freedom against the British. They wanted a place where they could lead a life freely without anyone dominating them. On the other hand, Operation Iraqi Freedom was launched in 2003 on the 20th of March. The main goal and objective of the operation was to remove the Iraqi regime and to make sure that Iraq does not use its weapons of mass destruction against American and its allies. The long term objective of the operation was to help Iraq to build a prosperous and free country. With time, the objective and aim of the Iraqi freedom operation has shifted (al-Momen, 2012). The operation was more focused on improving the leadership of Iraq and to make sure that the security and governance of the system is improved and works in favor of the country.

Analysis

Similarities between American Revolution and Operation Iraqi Freedom

Iraqi War was compared to American Revolution by George Bush in his speech. According to Bush, America was assisting and helping Iraq in developing by changing the current regime and by ensuring that the people of the country are able to live peacefully. With the government and regime of Saddam Hussein, the people of the country were not satisfied and they did not want the current government to continue in the country (Nusair, 2013). America made sure that the changes in the government are done by its army and also that the weapons of mass destruction of Iraq are held so that it cannot be used the country.

Need for Government

Operation Iraqi Freedom was launched when the country was facing hard times and the people of the country wanted to establish a representative government just like the Americans wanted to establish a representative government at that time.
