William Cullen Bryant lived an active and long life. He campaigned as a journalist enthusiastically for the rights of workman, free trade, free speech, and the free speech, free trade, the rights of workman, and slavery's eradication (Encarta Online). He was a revolutionary spokesperson for the general public, mechanics and the laborers in the city and the farmers in the country (Brown 2).
