Introduction

This thesis will undertake the task of exploring the major plot of “The Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller. This research focuses on various critical interpretations and venues with respect to the ancient times of 20th century when this play was written. The first chapter of this thesis will elaborate the literature review and the literature search that has been done in this regards with the most appropriate methodological concerns. The second chapter of this thesis will emphasize on those tragedies that are found in classical theatres in today's world. The model of the research will be based on how Miller has associated the working salesman who is striving hard for living and manage his family all together with respect to the utmost critical interpretations (The Bay and Paul Foundations, 2010). The third chapter of the research will highlight the “American Dream” with respect to the creation and myth of Eden. This part will underline character of Willy Loman and his efforts towards the dream and to think of a better life. The fourth part highlights the pilot of the Miller's Death and the consequences that author has placed in such a manner that readers would think with the comparative links in between the two plays.

Literature Review

“The Death of a Salesman” tells the story of Willy Loman, a salesman of sixties who sees his professional and family life in absentia succumb to the illusion of grandeur. Willy believed to represent the typical hero of the American dream, even though the relative failure of his life testifies to the contrary consequences.
