Introduction

This paper intends to discuss the significance of American democracy through exploring the different principles of the important documents being suggested as the icons of the American democracy. American democracy has been seen as one of the most powerful and significant democracies of the world. There are various reasons behind the fact that American democracy has reached the level of being powerful, exemplary and efficient enough to serve the American nation and country well. The purpose of this paper is to make the readers aware about the significance of understanding the various important aspects of American Democracy. For this purpose, different questions will be answered.

Question One: Based on your understanding of the declaration of independence and the constitution what would be you say to the principal differences between the two importance documents which we regard as icons of our American democracy?

The most important documents which we regard as icons of our American democracy are the declaration of independence and the constitution. There are various underlying principal differences between the two important documents. The declaration of independence seems to become the base of what United States of America look like today. The declaration is essentially a symbolic and significant representation of the American democracy. The independence declaration is one of the free charters of freedom. The declaration of freedom tends to revolve around life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. The declaration seems to respect the freedom and independence of every citizen. The basic difference between the constitution and the declaration of independence is that the declaration revolves around the concepts of life, liberty, happiness, common good, diversity, equality and all the positive aspects of any society (Mark, 2006).

On the other hand, the constitution seems to provide principles of rule of law, check and balance, separation of powers and federalism. The American constitution seems to provide principles which are necessary to maintain peace and harmony within the society while making sure the complete eradication of criminal activities. In simple words, the principal difference between the two important documents known as the icons of America democracy is that the declaration of independence seems to promote positivity providing all the important rights to the citizens; while the constitution tends to bind and guide the citizens to act in a manner which is beneficial to the society (Mark, 2006).

The immigration reforms have become one of the most debated issues amongst the congress. There are various reasons behind this debate. The increased terrorism from the immigrant residents within the United States of America remains one of the most important reasons behind the debates revolving around the issue of immigration reforms.
