Introduction

Allan Pinkerton,a famous detective was born in Glasgow in Scotland on August 25, 1819. As he was a business man, he actively participated in the Chartist movement during his young age. He got disappointed as he became unsuccessful in achieving universal suffrage, so he immigrated to America and settled permanently over there. He made his residence at Chicago and established his own barrel-making store,at some place outside Chicago. During 1850s he planned to establish his own detective agency, and finally he succeeded in taking this initiative from all over America.
