Introduction

Today the women are quite conscious about their looks that include their overall weight. It is considered that women's weight adds to building up their desirable image. However, on the other extreme the women who are fat are said to be discriminated on the basis of their appearance. This article by Susie Orbach, Fat as a Feminist issue, has focused on the same objectives. This article says that 50% of the women in the country have been appraised to be overweight. Despite of her expanded role as a wife, mother and a working person, she is the victim of ignorance most of the time. Obrach (pp.1-3) says that the women when see other women smart and skinny, they start comparing themselves prior to what world actually does to her. She starts to evaluate herself through the eyes of the world and make it the jury. It raises a lot of questions as to embrace completely that beauty standards are so strong that it brings your self-esteem down. Her immense participation in the making the worlds is ignored on the basis of partiality. The women have to face discrimination regardless of their efforts and they indulge themselves in inferiority complex. I disagree with this entire notion that women are fat or fat women shall be discriminated on the basis of their fat appearance.

With the passage of time world has introduced numerous new diseases and implications that lead to the inclusion of obesity as a symptom of other complications. The studies show that thyroid abnormality has been increasing widely worldwide, especially among the women.

The economic depression is giving severe depression to both the genders however women tend to take more pressure to bear on their body. This simply indicates to the inequality between the two sexes. According to Obrach (pp.1-3), women are particularly delicate yet they have much more capacity to bear the pressure.
