Introduction

This article deals with the experience of the author who was involved in the replacing the software as a service document exchange system by an e procurement company. The author is also a part of the agile community practice. This community emphasizes on the delivery of the knowledge and the provision of the virtual network for the agile practitioners. The agile community members share with each other techniques and knowledge related to the agile project management. There is also an agile community who cooperates with each other and shares their experiences and the knowledge with the PMI global community. The Author in this report has shared his experience when he was hired by an procurement company. His job was primarily to replace their software as a Service document exchange system. The system is a very important platform from where all the activities and the dealings with the customers are done and monitored.

The current system of the company had not been working efficiently so the company and the stakeholders decided to replace their system with the new system in order to meet the needs and demands which occurred as a result of a rapid growth in their service portfolio. I t was decided that in the new project the pure agile methodology will be utilized. The author, who like many of the PM's was not fully aware of the agile philosophy, in this report the author has tried to define those processes and steps where he was skeptical. Similarly, with the help of his experience he has tried to define that how the agile project can be delivered and evolved. This report covers all the processes from the first start up to the first release and had explained that where the team faced the difficulties in the project and where it had successes. In this report the author also tries to define that what he learnt from his journey and what were the major challenges in way.

Discussion

This project started when the existing system of the customer had completed its life and needed to complete from the beginning. This system was very important for the company as all the major transactions with the customers was done through this system. Similarly, without this system the contact of the business with the customers would have stopped. This project was very high profile and was linked with the future of the company. The success of this project was very critical for the company. The author defines that it was not a mere a software system but there had to be the transition of almost 6000 customers on to the new system.
