The Resilience Traits of African Migrants Resettling in South Australia

Overview

This paper will discuss the Resilience traits of the African migrants who are resettling in southern Australia from two major perspectives. The first perspective will be from the community viewpoint and the second perspective will be from the perspective of the policy makers. In this paper the community will entails in it the culture, society and the impacts of the resettling on the culture and societal factors, whereas, the policy makers viewpoint will involve the officials and factors affecting them. The policy makers, in this issue are the people who are basically the officials of the asylum office and have the authority to create the policies regarding the settlement of the Africans and other people in Australia. The resilience traits of African migrants resettling in South Australia play a pivotal role in the assimilation of the country's culture. In order to improve the health, lower stress, and improve economic productivity, the South Australian government needs to amend dynamic changes in the Public Health Policy to accommodate the new migrants (African Think Tank 2007, 1-76).

The Community Level

This is universally accepted that there are some adverse affects of the migration to the community of the receiving or destination country. The major negative impact on the destination country is from the perspective of the community. This is what Australia is facing due to the African migration in the southern Australia. The first and the foremost community related problem is that the local citizens of Australia face a large and enormous drain on the resources that needs to be consumed by the local citizens. This is also true that some of the migrants also get involved in the criminal activities due to which the local community suffers (Greeff, 2007, 189-200).

Apart from this, on one side the Africans are adopting the culture of the Australian community, but, this process of the culture adoption is a twp way process. This means that some local citizens of Australia are also adopting the culture that the migrants from Africa are bringing along with them. Though it is good to adopt the culture of other nations, but, the Australian locals are adopting the negative aspects of the African culture which entails in it all the criminal activities.

Policy Maker Level

The policy makers are basically the officials who are responsible for generating and making the policies for the migration process and for the immigrants. There is a high responsibility of the asylum policy makers as well as, the policy makers who are involved in designing of the policies regarding migration and immigrants to design policies which can address the issues faced by the local society and the community of Australia. This means that there has to be strict check and monitoring defined by the policies ...
