The research paper analyses the affirmative action under Obama's administration. The major aim of affirmative action is to improve the quality of life of the disadvantaged and compensate for the damages or the discrimination they have suffered. Affirmative Action reduces, and ideally eliminate practices that creates a discrimination against two historically excluded groups such as women and children and indigenous girls, an issue that is now a matter of concern when it gets in balance in the exercise of the collective rights of indigenous peoples and the rights these individual subjects. In this paper we are going to briefly analyze the affirmative actions taken by the Obama Administration, especially in the field of higher education. The actions taken by the Obama Administration take an extensive view for educational benefits of diversity. Along, with that these policies also tend to give the universities and colleges of United States of America a considerable leeway in the determination of the fact whether these colleges and universities are capable of achieving the desired levels of diversity without clearly considering the applicants' ethnicity or race. Obama's administration recognizes the fact that discrimination in education devalues ??diplomas; their prestige is no longer the same. Value decreases also for businesses that may tend to reject more persons who are members of a group "positively discriminated", including those graduated without this assistance. In addition, the risk of failure is higher. Affirmative action requires colleges to recruit at a lower level in the affected population. In the end it could rightfully be said that the affirmative action policies have fulfilled their roles in the short term. These policies by the Obama administration has proved to be highly effective and has been able to reach and facilitate and extensive number of more blacks and Hispanics in the universities.
