Forms of Advertising Appeal at Basketball Arenas

There is huge potential for adverting at Basketball arenas due to its fantastic seating capacity and its design. The rectangular format is an ideal place for advertising whether its billboards or neon signs. There are various forms of advertising, such as fear appeal, emotional appeal, or the most used sex appeal.

Fear appeal used in advertising is an attempt to create a sense of fear or anxiety inside the mind of the individual, so that the person consumes some product or service. Fear appeal is used in another aspect which I came across to a great extent; as people should be de motivated from smoking or drinking while driving (Hastings G, et al,2004). . Moreover, this form of advertising is even used for discouraging certain habits or actions which are deemed harmful, driving while or after drinking for that matter.

The advertising which is put forward in such a way that it arouses emotions is known as Emotional advertising. This form of appeal is rampant and is used consistently as this has a more strong and persistent impact upon any individual (Williams P. ,2000). Virgin Atlantic has been using this form of advertising in a larger context. Its slogan is as follows “you never forget your first time”, attempts to have an emotional impact upon its audience. It is prevalent from the statement that, it would have a wider exposure to its coverage as one individual would have a different effect as compared to someone else.
