There are several advantages that have led to the popularity of text messaging services over traditional methods of communication through phone calls. It is one of the cheapest and fastest ways of communication with people around the world.

Before the popularity and mass usage of text messaging services, people used mobile phones to talk to each other using voice calls. The recent times gave way to the usage of mobile phones for writing and sending messages. The generations of today's mobile phone users have come to be known as texters, a term used to describe people who use text messaging services in order to communicate and express themselves (Kennedy et.al, pp. 18-570).

One of the most obvious advantages of text messaging over voice phone is private communication. Text messaging allows conveying our messages without allowing the surrounding people to hear to what we say on voice calls.
