Adult Education

Introduction

The description of the concept “education” associates more to mean “formal education” established on arranged and structured combination of syllabus- based classroom education and orderly evaluation at various stages. Nevertheless, in most cases it associates to all kinds of “experiences” which allows the learner to evolve wisely and become more civilized and accepted participants of the society. In this next sense, the course of education is “lifelong”. From ancient times, self directed learning has been the basic tool for people of all the nations and civilizations to manage the world around them. During medieval times, development of knowledge was a part of the natural learning process in answer to fight for survival. Older generations passed on their skills and abilities to the younger members of the society. In pre-literate society (before the discovery of written, patterned and systemized script), much of the information and skills were transferred by “oral” methods and via imitation (Kumar, n. d.).

Later on written scripts were introduced, and the communication of knowledge became very systematic and arranged. Nevertheless, contemporary academics, which are more dominant nowadays, are considerably of European origin and can be predated to the 1770. Adult education and the concept of lifelong learning have surrounded us as long as we try to make a living, whether separately or as a whole (Kumar, n. d.).

Whenever we are interconnected with each other both the parties learn something or the other. Acquiring knowledge is an act or a process of receiving experience, knowledge and skills. Each and every individuals brain are designed in such a way where it has a capacity to collect, fetch and move ahead on that knowledge. We are transformed into novices to specialists based on our capability to acquire information and knowledge. In this manner, learning is a course of action, which includes exchanging from out most basic assumptions to the most difficult ones.

Thus, learning is an act or process, which is ongoing trough out the life of an individual (Kumar, n.d.).
