Management at Abu Dhabi Metal Pipes & Profiles Industries Complex LLC
Introduction
Intense competition in the local and international markets has led the companies to the conclusion that to survive and be successful in aggressive environments it is not enough to improve their operations and integrate their functions internally. However, it has become necessary to go beyond the boundaries of the company and initiate exchange relations information, materials and resources with suppliers and customers in a much more integrated manner, using innovative approaches that benefit all stakeholders together in the supply chain (Mitleton-Kelly 1998).
As a management philosophy, SCM is a systems approach that involves assembling a team of upstream (suppliers) and downstream (distributors and end users) partners with a common goal of satisfying a customer value or set of values. This outlook recognizes the interdependency of team members and attempts to foster a cooperative effort that will ultimately give the team a competitive advantage in the market place. SCM differs from earlier management philosophies in that it necessarily involves establishing sufficiently trustful relationships with the members of the chain to warrant involving them in strategic decisions. Companies may be involved in multiple supply chains and function, in different roles (for example, partners, suppliers, or customers) at any given time. As a guiding management philosophy and implementation technique, SCM is particularly attractive to socially and environmentally responsible businesses, as it gives assurance that standards set to support social welfare and environmental sustainability are being met throughout the life cycle of any given product (Gole et al. 2011: 3).
Further, Strategic Operations Management is one of the three functions of any key organization, and it is integrally related to the other functions of business. It is important for a company to understand that how people are organized to produce, and what are the ways through which goods and services are generated.
In this essay, we will be studying the fundamental elements of any business and its strategic plans that are management, supply chain management, the procurement process, and the strategic operations management. The company ADPICO that we have selected for analysis is the one in which I am currently providing my services as a Purchase Manager. Therefore, for me, it is essential to understand the above mentioned concepts since I am involved in purchasing of raw materials and related things for the production of company's products.
