What is my intended Major? It is Computer Science, it just fascinates me. When I was younger, I did not have the chance to either own a computer or learn about it. I remember being 10 years old and very curious about computers; I guess things that we do not have, attract us the most at times. My curiosity about computers became greater with the passage of time, and I have realized that this is something I mainly want to study. I have also always been passionate about math, and I believe that my passion for math extends to computer science. I believed in this, both because of some facts, as well as personal experiences.
Charles Babbage invented the first computer in 1822, mainly because he wanted a machine that would solve mathematical problems without any errors, and much quicker compared to human beings. Even the first computer was made because of mathematical reasons. I experienced this same thing when I worked at a company after I graduated form high school. I was working mainly on Excel sheets at my job. Although Excel is the most basic computer application, it still gave me an insight into how mathematical computer programs are in nature. In order to pursue the study of computer science, and because of my passion for math, I focus more on my math classes at college. I have also learned linear algebra and differential equations by myself. I believe that these mathematical skills (the capacity to analyze problems and understand complex equations) and Logic in general are like the raw structure and soul of programming. At present, I am also seeking to be a part of the mathematics department at my college. I want to be exposed to as many opportunities to perfect my mathematical skills as possible.
Along with studying linear equations and differential equations, I also bought a programming book called “Java Objects”, and I am learning how to write codes on my PC. It was hard for me at first; Java is like a new language. Not surprisingly, the more I learn programming, the more I feel passionate about it. I am very comfortable on studying on my own and I do not think I lack behind in these subjects because of not taking classes; no classes could have taught me anything if I did not have the attitude to learn. ...
