I am a girl belonging to a Sri Lankan family. My culture expects children to adopt the national culture and they should pursue a culture which will make their parents and country proud. Being a girl, my culture does permit me to adopt a profession that opposes the culture and tradition. The mindset of Sri Lankan community is that the child will pursue their careers in the field of medicine, engineering or law but my dream is to become a professional dancer who can learn, perform, and teach different dancing styles to people.
