Acute pharyngitis or angina is one of the most common diseases of children, especially in winter and spring. Involving inflammation and infection of the tonsils and throat tissues (hence also called tonsillitis, or pharyngitis). Acute respiratory infections, including the tonsils and pharynx are the most common ailments of human beings and are much more common in children. Common symptoms are sore throat, loss of appetite, fatigue and weakness, as well as swelling of the glands in the neck and fever. (Barnes, 2002, 15)
