Introduction

Gender mainstreaming comprises of public policy that is focused on evaluating a variety of implications about men and women regarding any programmed policy with legislations. Research bears immense sense of responsibility while holding data collection activities and later be followed by unbiased interpretation. Responsibility is often supported with the idea of 'accountability' towards the reporting authorities. Accountability is not confined to the having being answerable to powerful authority but essentially one is accountable to oneself and the society. According to Lee & Wong (2004, pp.797-832), conducting surveys is not an easy job and requires bringing so many things under consideration. Today the inclusion of information technology (IT), has directly or indirectly given the opportunity to the users to preserve the surveys so that in future they can be used as inputs to further studies.

Priority IssuesIn order to maintain accountability there are some issue that have to be observed:

Data collection is an important area that needs to be addressed while implementing any accountability plan.

Interpretation of data falls under the most significant area since it has to be done in the absence of any biasness.

The respondents have to be communicated about the nature of the survey or else unexpected subjectivity can sabotage the entire survey.

Lack of distribution of power is another issue that has to be decided before the initiation of surveys.

The survey conductors sometimes, in order to save time, fill in fake data as to just get through the entire activity.
