Introduction

According to the article posted online on the parenthood.com website by Judy Molland, titled What's Hot and what's Not in Education Today, the first article explains the concept of the increasingly popular phenomenon, known as academic red-shirting (Molland, 2012).

Academic Red-shirting is the phenomenon when parents deliberately keep their child from entering the school, despite them being old enough to enroll in kindergarten. They wait until the child has grown a year or two older than the required minimum age before enrolling him in a school, in the kindergarten class.
