Academic integrity is of high importance and the core value of any academia. To maintain this value plagiarism is strictly asked to avoid. In many universities and educational institutions, any person convicted of plagiarism is liable to undergo legal processes and outlawed from the institution. Speaking particularly in the academic context, plagiarism highly affects writings of scholars and academic authors as their valuable knowledge is left disregarded. Students are made to follow strict policies concerning plagiarism to assess their ability of effective writing and subject comprehension.

Academic learning in today's changing world brings demands to future professionals. Whether in a traditional classroom, or through distance learning, one thing is similar and which cannot bring forth a successful educational future. One thing that can damage anyone's academic future is plagiarism. Whether being the future of a straight 'A' student or a student who is just getting by (Nealy, 2011). The fact remains that anyone can fall victim to plagiarism. Plagiarism is the use of other writer's words without acknowledging the source and taking those words and passing them off as one's own ideas. Some people may think plagiarism is just copying someone else's work but in reality, plagiarism is much serious and hold very serious consequences. When plagiarism is caught, the outcome can be critical to a students' academic future.

The reason for copying or paraphrasing other's work is the lack of understanding of the student about a subject. Students copy other's work either because they are not able to find the right words for expressing their knowledge or they are too lazy and do not have much time for completing their given task in their own words.
