Introduction

Moral corruption and moral evil are the key source to abuse of power. When somebody refuses the moral responsibility towards the welfare of those who are under one's charge, the moral evil begins. We can say that one has got power, once he starts showing decisive influence over the others. An abuse is to make use of a resource or treat a person in inappropriate, inaccurate, inappropriate, unlawful or illegal (Kutler .et al, 1997). The authority, meanwhile, is the power, the sovereignty, the control or influence of the occupant of the government. Thus, we can say that the abuse of authority occurs when a leader or top takes advantage of his position and of his powers to someone who is in a position of dependence or subordination (Kutler .et al, 1997). The abuse of power can demonstrate itself in different manners. Any person, government authorities or corporations, when get some power, they start deceiving it over the non powerful.

Discussion

One form of abuse of authority occurs when the person who accesses a charge or feature leverages the power that is granted for personal gain, and not to develop their obligations.

The security forces, meanwhile, engage in abuse of authority when they rely on violence and make excessive use of their powers. An example of this type of situation occurs when the police arrest someone without justification and not allow the affected to express or defend.

It is seen that the abuse of authority allegations are borne by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working to defend human rights (Varkey, 1999).

For criminal law, abuse of authority is one that makes a subject that has been invested with public authority and that, as one develop his management, opposing actions to meet the obligations imposed by law, generating a moral or material damage to third parties.

“The greater the power, the more dangerous would be the abuse.” Edmund Burke stated that the more power you have, the more capable you are of using it for your own benefit, or worse, for the non-benefit of others (More, 2008). There lie various challenges once a person got powers of ruling over others. The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you. When you gain power, you are responsible to use it properly for the betterment of your community and not abuse it for your personal gains. Abusing power not only hurts the society, but in the end it will also hurt the individual abusing it.

Since, there are certain variations in power abusing. However, abuse of authority is practiced in every other corporation and is mostly seen at work places. Having committed the offense with abuse of authority or relationship entered into with the injured party, is one of the reasons why the penalty to be imposed can be increased, it is a particular aggravating circumstance, specifically required by law.
