Abortion is not Murder under Certain Circumstances

Introduction

Abortion is referred as the extinction of pregnancy by the expulsion or removal of embryo or fetus from the uterus. Researches and studies demonstrate that, abortion may happen impulsively. In these situations, it is referred as miscarriage. On the other hand, specifically, abortion is referred as the induced or intentional killing of an innocent child. In Christianity, abortion is strictly prohibited and is considered as the most devastating sin (Thomas &Williams, 2007). History demonstrates that, abortion and Christianity has extremely complex and long history although the Christian Bible does not mention any rule regarding the status of abortion. On the other hand, according to the views of various critiques, Bible has different views and beliefs regarding abortion, according to different situations and consequences. In contrast with this, other critiques argue that, despite of the silence of the new witness on the controversial issue of abortion, it is tremendously awful sin and is equal to the murder (Gerard, 2001).

Therefore, in Christianity, abortion is one of the greatest sins and is considered as the murder of one soul. On the other hand, the teachings of the Christianity demonstrate that, abortion is permitted in various circumstances, and is not considered as murder in those situations (Chance, 2012). The proceeding paper incorporates the discussion on the controversial issues of abortion in Christianity. In addition to this, the study also incorporates an idea that, whether it is a murder or not. Furthermore, the proceeding discussion is supported by the argumentative points that show that, in some of the circumstances, abortion is not murder.

Discussion

Abortion is nothing more than the termination, unnatural or natural, of a pregnancy which finishes the fetus life. In most of the situations, it is observed that, abortion is referred to the interventional of the mother or a father that willfully terminates or aborts a child. It is often observed that, people or usually mothers use to abort their baby due to various personal, economic and social reasons (Thomas &Williams, 2007). On the other hand, the religious teachings of Christianity demonstrate that, the life of every human being is precious in the eyes of God and it is not appropriate for any human being to kill him or herself or their unborn child. Moreover, the analysis of several teaching of Christianity also demonstrates that, abortion is equal to the murder of a soul, which is strictly forbidden. It is also stated in the Genesis 9:5- “Murder is prohibited”. In the light of these teachings, it is quite clear that, abortion is murder. It is often observed that, Christians who follows the teachings of their religion, believes that, abortion is one of the greatest crimes (Chance, 2012).
