Colonization is Relevant to Aboriginal People in Australia

Introduction

Australia is found to be the multicultural continent populated with the people from all over the world. However, this reveals the significant aspect of the existence of Australia from it heritage of indigenous people which has primarily contributed in making it multicultural society. Hence, the paper intends to expound the history of aboriginal Australians and how colonization is relevant to the aboriginal people of Australia. The Australian aborigines are the native population of Australia of more than 40,000 years old. They are perceived as the inhabitants of Asia who are also as the first known dwellers on the continent of Australia. As the word aboriginal means the first or the earliest known therefore, the Australian aborigines are termed as the largest and diverse population having the different languages, cultures, and customs. The aboriginal population of Australia includes the Koori, Murri, Nunga, Yapa, Palawah, and Noongar groups. The Australian aboriginal people were proved to be successful population as the evidences of spears, stone tools and eel farming reveal that they were hunter gatherers and fisherman. Moreover, the term aborigines was not the name of that early population but this name was primarily given by the Europeans which signifies that they were the original inhabitants of the continent (Fact Sheet, 2007).

The paper attempts to describe that the indigenous population was impacted by the broad range of multiple culture over the time but it significantly by the colonization of Australia. However, the colonization is considered relevant in the context of aboriginal Australian people.

Similarly, later they were convinced to assimilate according to the Western culture.

The numbers of studies have reflected that the Australian aborigines were the prime population who was radically impacted by the colonization process. This also shows that they had their own way of living and laws to govern their societies and which was functioning quite well until the influx of British people. (Hann, 2007). The British colonization put the adverse impact as they imposed new policies and rules which impacted the civilization of Australian Aborigines. The history of colonization ostensibly reflects that colonization caused the subsequent devastation of indigenous Australians as well as their resilience. The aboriginal people of Australia kept struggling in order to claim the equality and recognition after the arrival of British people. The studies have also indicated that the aboriginal Australia is based ...
