Nursing

The nurses update their knowledge through lifelong learning, critical reflection on the experience and research in order to improve its competence. Nurses based their actions on knowledge validated and updated, so as to give the person the most effective treatment and care. The nurse participates in professional training, and promotes active research, ensure the dissemination of results, to improve nursing care (Curley, 1988). On this basis we would expect that, in the varied context of nursing care, research and testing is like saying "the highlight" of our "Knowing" Being able to be "Knowing how to act", but unfortunately in reality we are still a bit 'far from what the concept of "research, testing," want to express. Some important steps have been made, and others are doing to ensure that cultural depth to our profession, that leap in quality generated by a post-basic training base and is characterized by a degree course, this will help build and consolidate the knowledge base discipline of nursing and to produce professionals who can use this knowledge in professional practice

History

In early 1990s, reformation was observed in conventional nursing model for developing a framework that can focus on patient. American Association of Critical-Care Nurses formed a think tank to converse about the changing paradigm of nursing practice. It conducted large scale investigations and concluded that the characteristics and competencies of nurses are being driven by patient needs. Therefore, it is necessary for a nurse to have expertise on a diverse spectrum of specialty dimension. AACN investigations were conceptualized in the Synergy model that addressed the concept of nurse performance in relation to matching with patient needs, resulting in optimal patient outcome. These factors formed the basis of Synergy Model for nurses (Brown, 1985).

Focal point of Synergy Model

Synergy model focuses on managing the inter-cultural diversity in patient-care management. For example, if a patient having different culture compare to nurse visits hospitals, the synergy model emphasize on building the competencies in nurse to identify the patient needs. Focus of this model is narrowed down as nurse should be able to incorporate cultural differences into health-care plan. The unique focus of the synergy model is on nurse characteristics and patient characteristics. According to synergy model, every patient, his family, healthcare system, and clinical unit system is unique. Capacity for health and vulnerability to illness differ greatly with each patient . Every component being addressed through the model brings unique characteristics to the care unit (Watson, 1998). These distinct characteristics cover the health-illness continuum to improve the expected patient outcome. The main key focus of the model is to match the nurse's competencies with patient characteristics to optimize outcomes.
