A Study of Commercialism As It Affects Religion in America
Introduction
All the people in the American society like to consider that they are impervious to the consequences of commercialism and advertising. In their opinion, many other people are affected by commercialism however the American people are too savvy and smart. It is been observed and a lot of evidence s there to support the argument that the American society is not protected from the commercialism and this commercialism is affecting the religion in United States. The proof of this argument comes from the fact that commercialism is in the daily lives of the people. For example, the style of clothes of Americans, the products that are purchased are nationally advertised, the type of food eaten, the encyclopedic information of the names of the brands, and the attention that is given to their appearance by the people of America.
In all these conditions and scenarios, commercialism is reflected in the daily lives of the people of the United States and its society. The sophistication of marketing, over the recent years, in the whole world including United States has augmented an immense covenant. The messages that support the American people to purchase the nationally advertised products are designed by talented and creative people. The knowledge of the modern science of the human psychology and the visual information processing system of the brain is used effectively in the commercialism.
An array of technical resources and equipments are also used in this practice. The advertisements talk to the rational mind, conscious and subconscious desires and fears of the people. No one will support or promote an outlaw on the marketing and commercialism. By the help of commercialism, useful information is also provided to the consumers (Jacobson, 2012). The commercialism has become a part of life in the modern world however it is affecting the religious values of the people. The commercialism promotes various things which are prohibited in the religion yet the people follow them. All these things have effect on the religion and this effect is string in the American society.
