Thesis Statement
The history of war correspondence is not that old. So far known; it was first introduced in Peninsular Campaign of Wellington and thereafter in Crimean as well as in Boer Wars. During First World War, reporters were firmly under control of military and were not allowed to go to front until mid 1915. Afirm censorship furthermore applied on their reports. In Second World War also, situation for media was not that favorable initially. Later on, control on media was relaxed. After Second World War, demand for more freedom in reporting by war correspondent has drawn attention of various corners.
Introduction
In this world, everything undergoes the constant process of evolution. So as the result, new ideas and technologies develop. They are analyzed as to their effectiveness and basing on that they are being incorporated. Media is such the place where these evolutions take place dramatically. In fact present age can be termed as data age. Harvard sociologist Daniel chime termed it as ' mail Industrial humanity'. It denotes that communication and information technology is main theme of this age. According to him professionals and technicians started replacing business entrepreneurs as prominent social class under this age. A few years ago, another prominent scholar Zbigniew Brzezinski has used word 'Technetronic' to describe this new age in which communication will play the greater intelligence role.
Discussion
The mutual understanding between the democratic political system, its defense establishments and its information system can ensure security of the state. There has been confrontation over conflict coverage between infantry and media. In democratic setup, media plays an important role in objectively educating and guiding public opinions in maintaining supreme national interests.
This paper will high light relations between media and war, discuss media in its past and present perspective and its possible role in future war with special emphasis on media management in Armed Forces along with few recommendations to strengthen media- military relations and to improve media's performance in covering any future war.
