Abstract

The domestic culture of Americans after World War II was dominated by the escalating cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union. The threat of communism invading the home and corrupting the nuclear family of mother, father, and children was ever present throughout the cold war. Capitalism is the form of society involving a minority and having either a rule over them or rule by them. Leninism has been a dominant branch of Marxism for most of the 20th century. This offshoot of communist ideology was named after Vladimir Lenin, who was the mastermind of the Russian revolution in 1917 and became the founder of the Soviet Union in 1922. The contemporary envoys and representatives of a democratic system and capitalized economy reveal strong bonding with the ideologies and implications of liberalism. The issue of the rise of capitalism in American society remains like an ideological importance. Considering this, we fail to reject H0.

CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION

The domestic culture of Americans after World War II was dominated by the escalating cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union. Americans after the end of World War II were looking to go home, start families, and enjoy domestic life. After experiencing war on the battlefront and the home front, both men and women looked forward to settling down, purchasing a home, and starting a family. The number of marriages increased, and those entering into post-war nuptials were younger than they had been in several decades. All of these components combined to create a new culture, one based on the nuclear family, suburbanization, consumerism, and in light of international relations, fear (James, 1994).
