Introduction

In his Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift tried to make people convinced to stop abusing Irish people that was done by well to-do English Protestants. However, Swift was also a Protestant, but he was also a native of Ireland, and he was born in Dublin to English parents (Lawall 2001, 483).

Discussion

Many Irishmen were working in the farms that were owned by Englishmen, and they used to charge high rents for it, and Irish was not able to pay these rents frequently. As a result, many Irish families were living on the edge of starvation.
