Introduction

In 1888-1889, Anton Chekhov wrote a one-act play named A Marriage Proposal. It was performed in 1890; Anton wrote this play in a fast-paced manner with dialogue based action and situational humor. Anton is 1800s famous author belonging to Russia, he is considered to be among world's chief playwrights. Even, though Anton's fame is due to his long, serious plays, he has also written several short mocking which include the one-act A Marriage Proposal. Satire was a popular form of play during Anton's time, and he wrote several satirical plays.
