A golf swing has been known to be called a work of art, a masterpiece and a beautiful story told only in a few short seconds. The origins of golf are uncertain going back to ancient times; researchers believe the game was played from China to Rome. This short narrative is about four main characters who give life to this story. These characters are the golfer David and his two close friends Ned and Andy. Another character is Thomas Blunt, who is an acquaintance of David. The story is about David and his dream to become a professional golfer and becoming a part of the PGA (Professional Golfers' Association of America). The character of Thomas blunt is very crucial in this story as he has contacts in the PGA and can arrange a tryout for David. The next section will discuss how the story unfolded. The story unfolds when David met Thomas Blunt in a Starbucks coffee shop where David revealed his desire to become a professional golf player. Thomas mentioned that he has contacts within the PGA and can help him in arranging golf tryouts. David was amused to hear that he actually had a chance to pursue his dream. Thomas told David to prepare for the tryouts which were after 5 months. This was enough time for David to practice and perfect his game. David and Thomas had become quite friendly following their initial meeting at Starbucks. They met for lunch several times in the following month and had some interesting conversations on many subjects including golf.
David wasted no time and started preparing for the tryouts. He asked Ned to be his caddy. Ned was David's close friend and was supportive of his dream of becoming a professional golfer. David also has another close friend who believed that this whole “becoming a professional golfer dream” was just a dream which should not be taken seriously and David should concentrate on his education. He was like a detractor for David's dream. However, David asked both of his friends to help him in his golf practice.
The tryouts were in five months and David had to practice a lot. Choosing a caddy is not enough to play at a professional level. One should have the skills to compete with world class players who are part of the PGA. Everyone wants to hit the ball like the professionals and look like the professionals. If David had to compete with the professionals he had to practice for 6 to 8 hours a day to end up with a perfect golf swing and a perfect finish like the professionals.
