Juvenile curfews in the United Kingdom have typically required that minor children be in their places of residence between a certain late-evening hour and a certain mid-morning hour. It is typically articulated, within the statutes themselves, that juvenile curfew laws are intended to protect juveniles from engaging in, or being victimized by, criminal behavior and to strengthen parental control over youths. Some British cities have recently enacted daytime curfews, which require minors to be on school grounds during school hours, in an effort to combat truancy.
