The meat packing industry is one of the sensitive industries regarding health and safety. Workers health and safety in this industry is a major concern as it employs more than 100,000 workers and it is considered as the most hazardous industry since it has the highest rate of injuries.
It has been noticed that most of the employees get injured during the first month of working in this industry. Of those workers mostly were cut by machinery equipment and most of the injured workers were 25 years of age or younger.
There are other factors as well that can cause workers injury like animal movement prior to stunning and the other factor can be stunning guns.

To establish a safety committee / management to meet regularly in order to inspect safety practices involving but not limited to security concerns arising out of the line of work, and to implement the possible best practices for all employees base on the federal and state laws.
It is recommended that employees should also have the right to file a complaint with the plant safety committee without fearing of reprisal for bringing awareness to the safety committee on security concerns.
This committee is responsible to point out all the safety issues and come up with a proper planning to resolve all the safety hazard and take the require action to minimize the health and safety problems. An employee will also have the right to refer safety concerns to relevant agencies of the state and / or federal agencies without fear of reprisal.
