God has created both men and women equally. But variegated issues that exist in our society give unequal status to men and women. There are scores of instances that prove behaviour of society which predict that women are inferior creature. Women always have been treated by society as an inferior being. Males have always dominated the society and have treated women as their subordinates. But, things have changed now. A woman of today's world knows her value. She is capable of doing anything to prove her mettle. The notion that women are slave to their men has been jettisoned now. With her studious effort and remarkable achievements women have achieved a status that demands respect and integrity. The aim and objective of this paper is to talk about different efforts of women and their movements that helped them achieve a status in society.
Women's Suffrage
The international movement for women's suffrage was conducted by the suffragettes. This was a social reform movement, which promoted economic and political extension of the suffrage (the right to vote) to women. This movement advocated equal suffrage by abolishing the difference in gender voting capacity instead of universal suffrage (abolition of discrimination due mainly to the race). Women's suffrage is all about getting the right of women to vote in the elections. It historically includes political and economic movement aimed at empowering women voting rights. Most of the units of the patriarchal societies imply that women and men have different social functions, and accordingly they are granted different set of rights and responsibilities.
