1. Why is Madam Curie referred to as an icon for women in science? (5)

Madame Curie is labeled an icon for women because her discovery in the field of Physics and her discovery towards radioactivity have made her a source of immeasurable excellence. Not only this, being a lone women all her life, her intelligence and her independence acted as a beacon of hope, becoming the first one to break all rules that had demeaned the reputation of a woman.

2. How did Madam Curie become the first women to teach at the Sorbonne? How was this appointment received by the public? (3)

With her outstanding performance in the field of Physics and maintained performance in the field of physics, Curie was looked down with a demeaning eye and was condemned from her house if she was to ever come back home. However, she made a wise decision to go with her dreams for once and paved way to pursue a career that was unique, of her interest and contributed greatly upon a mass level and took over her husband's chair, thus becoming a beacon of hope and survival for all the widows out there (Valenti, 2007).

3. How was Madam Curie able to manage a household and a career, taking over her dead husband's chair? (2)

Although her marriage was short lived, Curie designed and managed to cater on her personal and professional life simultaneously. With children and family time at nighttimes only, she still managed to build and establish a well-knit lifestyle for her two daughters, even after the accidental death and demise of her husband.

4. What was the impact of the use of the term “Mother Earth” to refer to nature? (2)

The reason to use the term “Mother Earth” for nature because it is because of this nature only which suffers, takes pains, yields fruits, bears the nonsense and the adversity human cause to it and roars with rage and anger in the form of natural disasters, just like a mother, for our own correction. Today's world of modern technology and advancements, one can easily track the previous trends and past patterns of climate that mother Earth has experienced and gone through. With the latest technologies inculcated in systems today, one can easily identifying the historic trends that have occurred and at the same time forecast the future regarding resource depletion. Climatic change is happening with every passing second, causing irreversible damage and problems that are also impacting human beings.

5. What philosophies resulted in a backlash against women and the natural world? (3)

With women coming on to the main scene for making and creating effective contributions towards the improvement of the world, many pro-masculine traditionalist and practitioners came in front to stop the rising plague of women making all the efforts.
