Hilary Mental

Hilary Mantel (Hilary Mary Mantel) was born July 6, 1952 in Glossop, Derbyshire, England. Initially, the family of the writer - came from Ireland, although Hilary parents - Margaret and Henry Thompson - British. Hillary took the surname of his grandfather, Jack Mantel, when she was 11 years old. Hilary Mantel has studied law at Sheffield University, receiving a bachelor's degree in 1973. In 1974, he began his literary activity. Since 1972, after married to Gerald MakIvenom, in 1977 she moved to Botswana. Four years had lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and in 2009, she received the Booker Prize for his novel "Wolf Hall" (Simon, 245).

Mantel, 57, was chosen from a group of six finalists among which was the South African John Maxwell Coetzee, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2003, which aimed to achieve his third book with "summertime", the third volume of his autobiography novel. The writer, who already won the award in 1999 with "Disgrace" and in 1983 with "Life and Times of Michael K", might have made history if, as predicted by some commentators, would have won this year. Moreover, Mantel's historical work on the Tudor period in England in the sixteenth century has been described by critics as "a truly sensational English novel". Furthermore, British writer and literary critic, Hilary Mantel noted for her mastery of the historical novel genre that has devoted much of his literary output (Bethune, 182).

Born in Glossop, Derbyshire County (North English), she worked as a social worker before moving to live in Botswana and Saudi Arabia, returning to the UK in the early 80's. Mantel spent five years writing the novel, winner of this year's Booker, which has sold 48mil copies in Britain and for preparing a sequel. Moreover, from one of the finest living writers, Wolf Hall that is very rare thing: a truly great novel. However, one that explores the intersection of individual psychology and politics in wider. With a Vast array of characters, and richly overflowing with incident, it peels history to show us Tudor England as a half-made Society, with great passion itself molding and suffering and courage (Bethune, 182).
