In the following proposed study, we will analyze and examine the various factors which can enhance student retention in online courses. The study will also analyze the concept of technology, information technology and education. The proposed study will also illustrate the significance of technology in education. The research study adopts the secondary research method for the purpose of data collection and analysis. The chapter of literature review will analyze and explain the concepts of technology and education. The chapter of literature review will also emphasize on the significance of technology and education in the society. The chapter will further exhibit the role of technology in education and retention of students. The chapter will further explore and give insight about the concept of Westwood College and how students can be retained to online courses and programs. As we all are aware of the fact the information technology and its tools play s significant and essential role in education sector all across the globe (Winograd, 1988). In the world of technology, the instructors are now utilizing various tools in order to enhance the teaching and learning process. Many studies have also stated that many educational institutes are also using technological devices in order to retain students and promote education, so that they can enhance and improve their skills and abilities. Extensive research and studies have been carried out in the past which will help in developing a deep understanding about the major concepts.

Technology is defined as the process of making, modifying and using various kinds of tools, machines and other methods in order to find a resolution of a problem (Winograd, 1988). According to (Turoff, 1995) technology and its tools can also be used in order to achieve goals and perform various organizational functions (Turoff, 1995).
