The political scandal in the 1970s in the US, which resulted in the breaching of the DNC HQ at the Watergate office at DC and the Nixon administration's effort to conceal its involvement, is very popularly known as the Watergate scandal. Richard Nixon, who was the president of the US and the core conspirator in the scandal, resigned because of the Watergate scandal on the 9th of August, 1974. This resignation is the only record of a US presidential resignation in the country to date (Len, Pp. 420).
