Introduction

A representative of the Department of Defense, located in the camp of U.S. forces in Ramadi, Iraqi territory, acknowledged that the invasion of Iraq was unjustified. The revelation comes after eight years of military action taken against the Iraqi nation and leaving a devastated country, and after the killing of millions of Iraqi civilians, along with the death of 4000 troops (Yoshihara, pp. 15-94). People all over the world now openly criticize the decision of invasion of Iraq by United States, and considered the reasons unjustified. In this connection, this paper is going to furnish the answer of the question whether the war on Iraq was justified or not?

Discussion and Analysis

War can never be justified: It leads to misery; it turns normal people into monsters and it kills of a generation of young men. People believe war can never be justified as they believe it is just old men sending the young to their death believing it to be in the benefit of their country. An example of an unjust war is the recent invasion of Iraq when the public was lied to about them having biological weapons. This lie cost the lives of thousands of people military and civilian, and the only thing it has managed to achieve is to create an unstable country on the brink of chaos. Some believe that war destroys countries and people's lives; mainly by killing families and homes, but even worse is in the long it destroys countries' economies taking generations to recover or in some case never to recover like in North Korea were it has still to recover (Dudley, pp. 36-125).

The reason for attacking the Iraq furnished by United States is that the country possesses weapons of mass destruction. However, after the attack when allied forces found no such mass destructions weapons, the U.S. officials turned away from their statements claiming that Saddam was the potential threat to the security and peace of the world and has links with Al Qaeda and other terrorist outfits. The idea that Saddam Hussein is a terrorist is an argument which supports the removal of Hussein in order to liberate the Iraqi people.
