Coaching Volleyball

Introduction

Among other team sports, volleyball is considered one of the most enjoyable and widely accepted as a mild form of entertainment as well. It is a sport in which two teams are formed with six players each, who must score points against their opposition by grounding a ball through organized rules on the other team's court. A net is placed in the ground that separates the two teams. The sport has been played for a very long time and in 1964, was officially made a part of the Summer Olympics Games. It is also a national sport in Sri Lanka, and is celebrated as such. In this paper, I will be analyzing the techniques and methods used in coaching volleyball, and how it came to be recognized as an official game.

Other then that, a “fault” is when a team misreads the capacity in which they have served the ball and it becomes grounded in their own court while serving or connects with the net and falls back. In this situation the opposing team is allowed a point. A fault may also be caused if the ball carries over to the opponents court without having crossed the net, or if a player on either team catches the ball with both their hands hence breaking the rules. Throwing the ball without the usual means of tossing it and hitting it will result in loss of points as well. A double hit is also consequent to losing points, and if the same teram has inadvertently touched the ball four times it is considered a fault. The boundary line must be observed as well, and teams cannot let their footing be los and step over the boundary as t hat results in another fault. Although the game is mostly safe with the contact of hitting the ...
