Ute Tribe has a rich history and it is one of the known tribes in the North of Rio Grande in Colorado, North America. Extensive research will be conducted to outline as well as to present this prominent tribe in the north of Rio Grande. This would include the areas of inquiry such as history, language, religion, art, kinship, famous tribal members, traditional and modern economies and traditional and modern governance.

HYPOTHESIS: The Ute tribe is a cultural group that is both rich and diverse and is distinct from the other native tribes of America.

History

In the history of United States, the Indian tribes in Rio Grande have played a major role. Even today, these tribes have kept their history alive. The Indian tribes settled in Rio Grande in the twelfth and the thirteenth centuries before America was explored by the Europeans.

Ute tribe is located in the southwest of Colorado which is also known as southeast Utah and northern New Mexico. The two communities found in the Ute Reservation are the headquarters of the tribe that is in Towaoc and a small community is located in Utah. Ute tribe is rich in Four Corners culture. The Ute tribe has been living on the Ute Mountain since more than hundred years. Initially, the economic development was poor. However, now planning is being done with regard to the usage of the natural resources for consumption in the future.

The people who belong to the Ute tribe are the descendants of the Weeminuche band. These people moved in 1897 to the Southern Reservation of Ute.
