Introduction

The social welfare programs and services in the United States is divided into two major categories. The social Insurance Programs and the Income Support Programs.

The social insurance programs give benefits to people without any reference to their assets or income, according to the employment of the individual. The major income support insurance programs are Social Security, unemployment insurance, temporary disability, and workers' compensation.
